An Open letter To Minister Simon Harris
Dear Minister Harris,
The Sarcoma Action Group, who successfully campaigned for the creation of a permanent medical Oncologist position staffed by an expert, dedicated to the treatment of sarcoma. would like to announce that on the 11th August 2015 we rebranded as Sarcoma Ireland.
Our mission is to empower sarcoma patients through advocacy, education and support. A strong patient group has now been formed and will offer a unique support to fellow patients who are battling this very rare form of cancer.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the time, effort and support you have shown our group .We fully understand the difficulties you faced in retaining the services of Dr. Bertuzzi. Regardless of the issues discussed at our meeting in the Dail with yourself and the details later agreed we understand there often needs to be further give and take between all parties involved to reach a successful conclusion.
We look forward to working closely with the medical team behind the Irish Sarcoma Group, with the Irish Cancer Society, the NCCP, and the European Cancer Patients Coalition ( ECPC ).We are in the process of setting up an official website and already have our Facebook page www.facebook.com/SarcomaIreland
It has come to our attention that a protest is being considered by an individual sarcoma patient for the 27th of September outside Leinster House to coincide with the new Dail term. This is not a Sarcoma Ireland protest nor has it our approval. Sarcoma Ireland is committed to building and maintaining relationships with yourself and your department. All announcements regarding the group’s activities will only be issued by our public relations officers Cathal McNamara & Crona Sheehan or on our official Facebook page.
